On the death of George the Marquisate extinct, the Earl of Hartfell extinct, the Lord Johnstone 1633 extinct; the Earldoms of Annandale and Hartfell of 1661 and 1662 creation dormant.
The present Earl also holds the Scottish feudal Baron of the Barony of Johnstone and the Barony of Annandale and Hartfell of 1662. Incorporated into them are all the other Scottish Baronies and Lordships previously granted to the Johnstone family dating from c. 1540 onwards.
